The Balvenie - Sixty

Brand activations and pop-ups, built in London

Rule One builds the physical side of brand activations: pop-ups, launch events, takeovers and interactive installations. We work from your creative concept or help develop one, then fabricate it in our East London workshop and deliver it on the day.

For The Balvenie's 60th anniversary we went from creative development and venue sourcing through to live event delivery. For KIKO Milano we engineered a working sushi-style conveyor display; for Netflix, oversized planted letters in Cannes; for Southern Comfort, a New Orleans street scene in a London pub garden.

What we build

Launch and press events

Dining environments, press days and launches, like The Balvenie's 60th anniversary dinner for global media.

Pop-ups and takeovers

Short-run branded spaces in high-footfall locations, such as F1's takeover of The Corner Shop at Selfridges.

Interactive installations

Pieces people use, not just look at, like KIKO Milano's conveyor display at Little Violet Door.

Public campaigns

Interactive pieces built for repeated public use, like the HypnoCube recycling kiosk for East London Waste Authority.

Outdoor and festival builds

Structures built to travel and assemble on site, from Netflix's letters in Cannes to the Southern Comfort garden.

Sponsorship activations

Branded builds for partnerships at venues, like the Stanley 1913 x Arsenal kiosk at the Emirates Stadium.

How it works

  1. Concept and development

Bring a finished concept or a starting point. We develop it into drawings, materials and a production plan, and can help find the venue.

  2. Build

Fabrication, mechanics, branding and scenic finishes in our East London workshop.

  3. On the day

Delivery, installation and live event support, with transport through our sister company, Super Logistics.

Questions we're asked

Do you work for agencies?

Yes. We're often the build partner behind a creative or experiential agency, as with Southern Comfort's Mardi Gras through Hi-Spirits. We work to your design, keep you in the loop and stay out of the client conversation unless you want us in it.

Can you help with the concept?

Yes. For The Balvenie and KIKO Milano we were involved from concept development; for others, like Southern Comfort, we took the client's event concept and made it real.

Can you find a venue?

We have done. Venue sourcing was part of our role on The Balvenie's 60th anniversary.

Do you stay for the event?

Yes, where it's needed. We delivered The Balvenie's anniversary dinner through to the live event.

Can you build things that move?

Yes. KIKO Milano's conveyor display had to run consistently, quietly and reliably, with speed, plate spacing and lighting all tuned for a clean, premium finish.

Do you work outside London?

Yes. We've built for Netflix in Cannes, Fenwick in Newcastle and UGG across Europe.

What affects the cost?

Mainly size and quantity, materials and finish, any movement or lighting, install conditions (overnight in a trading store costs more than a daytime install in an empty space), how much design work is needed, and transport, storage and de-rig. Send a budget range with your brief and we'll tell you what it buys and where the money is best spent.

Are you insured?

Yes. Rule One holds £10m public liability and £10m product liability cover with NFU Mutual, and we provide RAMS for every install.
