F1 - 75 Year Anniversary

Set build in London

Rule One is a set build company with its own workshop in East London. We're a team of makers, builders, producers and designers building sets, stores, stands and installations for brands, retailers and agencies, and we take them from the drawing to the finished space.

Recent builds include Formula 1's 75th anniversary takeover at Selfridges, built around a yellow Lotus race car; a record shop for Selfridges and Rough Trade; Budweiser Brewing Group's hospitality suite at the Emirates Stadium; and a matchday kiosk for Stanley 1913 and Arsenal.

How it works

  1. Development

We turn your concept or render into buildable drawings, materials and a programme, and flag the technical problems early.

  2. Build

Fabrication, finishing and scenic art in our East London workshop at 22 Rigg Approach, E10.

  3. Delivery and installation

Our crews deliver and install on site, through to handover or the live event. Transport runs through our sister company, Super Logistics.

Questions we're asked

Where is your workshop?

At 22 Rigg Approach, London E10 7QN, in East London. Everything we build is made there.

Do you work with agencies and production companies?

Yes. Much of our work comes through creative agencies and producers, as with Southern Comfort's Mardi Gras through Hi-Spirits, and we're used to building to someone else's design.

Can you build from a 3D render?

Yes. For Budweiser Brewing Group we took the suite from the original 3D render to a live stadium space, keeping the look of the render while solving the technical detail.

Do you do scenic art and set dressing?

Yes. Our scenic artists painted and dressed the Southern Comfort Mardi Gras set, and dressing is part of most of our event builds.

Do you handle transport and installation?

Yes. Our own crews install, and transport runs through our sister company, Super Logistics, so the build, the van and the install crew answer to one team.

Can you just do the CNC cutting?

Yes. Trade CNC routing and cutting is handled by our sister workshop, Rule One CNC, at ruleonecnc.com.

What affects the cost?

Mainly size and quantity, materials and finish, any movement or lighting, install conditions (overnight in a trading store costs more than a daytime install in an empty space), how much design work is needed, and transport, storage and de-rig. Send a budget range with your brief and we'll tell you what it buys and where the money is best spent.

Are you insured?

Yes. Rule One holds £10m public liability and £10m product liability cover with NFU Mutual, and we provide RAMS for every install.
